I guess the point that I was trying to make was this: there have always been people who have said offensive things, I don't always like what is said , but I love that they have a right to say it. When I took my enlistment oath many years ago I basically said that I was willing to die for the rights of all Americans to say what is on their mind, not just the one I agree with. Do some comedians step over the line? Yes they do, but I have also been guilty of telling jokes around a campfire with my friends that I wouldn't have told if my mom was there, or anyone's mom for that matter. I love freedom and hate the government sticking it's nose in my life. If I want them to stop what I find offensive, one day some one is going to be offended by what I say, and it is I who will be silence . I don't ever want that day to come. I do agree with a lot of the other posters too in saying that if people were caused to carry the full responsibility of what they say then they may choose their words more carefully. I'm all for free speech just be willing to accept the consequences for your actions.
