I brought home a new 357, the good and the (not so) bad.
« on: March 30, 2011, 03:21:50 PM »
One of our local gun shops is going out of business, as he usually had a few handi's in stock I stopped in to see what he had today.
The Good:
The 357 caught my eye but I did not care for the Tasco reddot he had mounted on it. After he agreed to swap it out for a 4x32 scope I brought it home.
The (not so) Bad:
I was dreading my wifes comments when I walked through the door, but instead she took such a liking to it that I believe I am going to have to set this one up for her. Now I just need to get a hammer extension and a youth synthetic stock.

navy,

That happens a lot.  To date I have lost a 1911, M-4, mini-14, and a Handi 22-250 to the Missus.   I leave my Maxi locked up and out a site and would never take it to the range when she is going. ::)

I guess though, going by the way most women think, I have to pick up another so we can "match". I wonder if it would be close enough if it had wood stocks?

Hillbill-He had the same reddots also mounted on .22's and a few .17hmr. That was almost enough to put me off from the start. I probably would have still brought it home anyways, but since he was willing to swap it for the scope I wasn't going to turn him down.

Sometimes pulling a recoil pad off a wood stock shortens it up about right, and on a no kicker caliber a simple hard plate is fine.

I bought a .22 Mag. Sportster a while back, I brought it in the door, and Patty said "That's a nice looking Patty rifle.  For pallet wood, it is nice.  Oh well, lost that one.  That's O.K., I've got a bunch she doesn't know or care about.

Congrats on the new 357, and I know what you mean about the wife, mine took my marlin 35 after her first deer but that's OK she still lets me play with it.

Them wimmins can be difficult.  The last two years Patty sat and spun  wool during our Summer shoot.  This year, she wants to show us guys how it's done.  She is, I guess you would call it "a markswoman."

I've got to load up a bunch of .270s for her, and lay in some .22WMR.  The .270 brass and bullets just arrived, so I have work to do.
