« on: March 04, 2011, 03:58:29 PM »
I've considered buying one for several years now but know nobody who has one. It's a lt wt little 22 and I love the way it feels and the sites, but is is accurate?? Reliable?? Are larger than 10 shot mags available?? I'll be buying a new 22 this summer and don't have a lot of money to spend. POWDERMAN.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I was really hoping somebody had some experience with this little rifle because I reall like it's looks and feel, just wish it was tube fed or had a larger mag. I'd hate to buy one and find out it was not what I thought it would be. POWDERMAN.  :o :o

Powderman, Ive got one. I bought it to leave in NC to use when we visit
The gun supprised me in the way it shot and I have not had a jam that I can remember. I don't know about a larger mag the factory mag is all I have used. I and the kids have shot the snot out of it.
Its a cheap gun but shoots as good as some of the more expensive brands.
My son in law got one also and he would say the same thing.
Hope this helps.

I've had an 802 Thumbhole Tipdown Bolt (#37091) for 3 yrs.  I like the way it is set up as it can be used comfortably either as a straight or a thumbhole buttstock, with the forend up or tipped down as a forend grip.  It was very accurate out of the box, still is.

I bought a Mossberg 702 Plinkster on black Friday a few years back for $100 and it's been great. I shoot federal bulk through it and usually only have to clean it around 800 - 1000 rounds.

I bought a set of tech sight aperture sights and love them. http://www.tech-sights.com/
There isn't really much you can do to it as far as upgrades besides for adding a scope, but it shoots well enough from the factory that it doesn't really matter. I do wish they made higher capacity magazines, though.

I have an 802 Plinkster (bolt action), and I LOVE it! My only complaint is the short forestock as I"d like to put a bipod on it.

As for accuracy, I have it set up with a 2x7x scope for 25 yards (indoor range) and it shoots great! As soon as I get a chance I'll rezero the scope for 100 yards. I plan on the kid carrying it this summer groundhog hunting while I carry either the Remi 700 .223 or 12 gauge (depending on where we hunt).

I've had a blue Plinkster for a couple of years, maybe three.  Paid $99 for it on special at Academy.  Great little gun!!! except for the trigger pull.  It will digest every kind of hi-speed ammo I've put thru it, put a 4x30 NCStar (off an AK) on it and it's as accurate as I can shoot with it.  Haven't found a better mag yet, picked up an extra from the factory.

The trigger reminds me of the first 10-22s...When I first got it, I could hear the mechanism "creaking" as I pulled the trigger.  Took it down, honed & polished the moving parts, lubed it well and it's about 6 pounds now but still has noticeable creep.

Anyone have any tips or experience smoothing the lockwork?
