im looking for some suggestions on a load i recently loaded
115 speer
29 gr. imc 4895 cant remember
the suggested load was for 31.5 gr
loaded on at 29 test fired worked fine
loaded one at 30 test fired noticed flatting of the primer and difficult ejection so we went with 29 gr but experienced poor results i read in a earlier post the fire form load should be close to max we took 15 percent of the min i wonder if this could have comprimed the accuracy ohh
by the way its a 10 inch contender any suggestions would be helpfull i wanna stick to the 115 gran bullet but im open from there

For fireforming I use cast bullets seated so they engrave the rifling. I load them 2-3 grs below max.  You may have to try more than one powder to find what load your barrel likes.
Looking in my T/C reloading manual and a 115 gr Speer bullet it lists 28.3-30.3 grs IMR 4895 or 27.3-29.3 grs H4895.  The max grs are both listed as compressed loads. I would suggest that you get a good reloading book like the T/C  complete reloading manual for getting the best results out of your barrel.
I have a 14" barrel.
Good luck,  Orygun

I fire-formed with 25 grns. of H 322 under a Sierra 120 Pro Hunter, very accurate.  I am now shooting 26 grns. of H 322 under a 120 grn. Nosler BT.  I don't see why this load would not work fine with the 115 grn. you want to stick with, but I do suggest you try the 120 Nosler Ballistic Tip!!!  I shot a buck with it last weekend, worked great.
