RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

The one thing that you can almost always rely on research leading to, is more research.

Has anyone looked at Skylighter.com Black powder making kit? I got an e-mail on it today and he says you can make black powder for about $6.00. I have kinda sliped away from cannons just a little and thinking about making Fireworks. Tell me more about this breakthrough method

I tried that Skylighter Black Powder kit before.  There's no Hazmat charges that way, so it's really economical when you only need small quantities.

As far as I could tell, I followed their directions to the letter; but my powder came out very weak.  So I never went that route again; I just order Goex in at least five pound quantities.

But if I could go to the trouble and get the cost of high quality BP down to six dollars a pound, I would be interested.

Better technique.

I obviously didn't do it right, maybe; not enough starch, not mixed well enough, not dried correctly.  But like I said, as far as I could tell; I followed the directions to the letter.
