Well, Brian did it again.  I recently bought a  used.22-250 that wouldn't put two bullets within two inches of each other at 50 yards no matter what I tried.  Brian said "Send it in".  I did.  It came back Friday, new barrel, looking beautiful.  The weather cleared some early this morning and I got to shoot it.  Perfect is all I can say.  Superb trigger and it makes one hole targets.  It's probably my most accurate Handi.  Only a better shooter could tell for sure.  The turn around was less than two weeks including the Memorial Day Holiday.

THANK YOU, BRIAN!!!!!!!!!!

I was having accuracy problems w/my new 223 after Brian fitted a 30-30 and 30-06 barrel set, so Brian said send it back in.  (It was a little goofy before it went in for barrels) He didn't like the groups on the 223 barrel either, so it came back w/a new one that fits superbly and groups much better, <1" @50yd.  Trigger has been smoothed out as well.  I was drilling clay birds set at the far backstop of our club's range with all three barrels this afternoon.
Great work.

Well, Brian did it again!  I sent an older NEF frame up for a .243 barrel.  It came back looking absolutely beautiful.  He was unsatisfied with the finish on the barrel and sent both frame and barrel to be reblued and you can see your face in it.  The old harsh trigger is now a dream.  Smooth, light and crisp.  I sighted it in this morning to get on paper at 50 yards.  I fired 5 series of two shots.  Each two were one hole or touching.  Tomorrow I'll work it out to 300 yards.

Ya gotta love this guy :-* :-*

Add me to the list of folks to say THANK YOU to Brian. About a month ago I posted where I had bought a Topper 158 in 30-30. This old gun was beat up,had a broken firing pin, loose barrel, etc. I had bought it cheap as a "fixer upper". Well, a few days after posting I got a PM from Brian that said " I've still got some parts for that old gun, why don't you send it to me and I'll fix it for you". I figured Brian was probably a better "fixer upper" than I am :o ,so I sent it to him. Got it back today and WOW  ;D  it looks like he jacked it up and drove a new one under it!!! Everything fixed, refinished, works smooth and locks up tight. He didnt leave me much to "fix up"---(well, I was planning on a recoil pad and stock refinish,so I guess he left me something after all ::) ).
What can I say---THANKS BRIAN!!!

One more time, Brian saved the day...well, the rifle ! Service was fast, work was excellent, great communication.
The new barrel looks to be more accurate than the old one, and that wasn't what I sent it in for, haha.
Thank you, Brian.

Brian does it again,

I sent him a model 157 in 22H, I recently acquired  that has been out of service for years.

Brian went all over it, replacing and fitting parts, and it came back to me in better than new  working order than it ever was in, since it was made in 76. He went beyond what I expected.
The turn around time could not be any better.

I just hope Brian doesn't get too busy with his popularity.

Thanks again Brian

You have to contact H&R and get a service request(work order) number and make sure they have the barrel in stock, if stock is limited they can reserve it for you, see the two links below. Contacting Brian is optional.  ;)

Brian Does It Again!
« Reply #41 on: February 27, 2013, 05:02:13 PM »
I sent in my Handi with several barrels to Brian for fitting.  He had them done in a day, with renewing some of the parts in the frame and adding a new sight on the .45-70 barrel.  It took a while after that for the shipping department to get them out the door, but they arrived today and I couldn't be more satisfied.  $25 per barrel, around $18 (IIRC) for shipping and then they collected sales tax  :( so it all ended up a little more than $100.

Brian couldn't fit the .30-40 barrel, so he sent me another .30-30 instead (I hope I wasn't supposed to keep that secret).

Thanks Brian!  You have another satisfied customer.

Got a question about getting a gun into Brian's hands for work.
Do you have to send it with ATTN: Brian marked on the package or is it just that he is the guy that does all the work on Handi rifles?

My experience has been that I PM'ed Brian thru this forum to introduce myself and let him know what I wanted to do.  He then OFFERED to help me by looking for my work order when it came in.  He asked me to notify him when it was sent and when it was supposed to arrive so he could watch for it.

He sure doesn't have to do what he does for us but I am sure glad he does! 8)

I recently acquired a sidekick with a broken transfer bar.  After continued frustration with Rem customer service contacted Brian56.  A new transfer bar was in the mail in less than 24 hours.  A big thanks to Brian.  Top notch guy.

Brian is a Gunsmith and probably wants to work with his hands, but Remington/H&R would be a lot better off  if he headed up Customer Service for more bucks a year and some perks. For more than a few years now, he knows what's available and what can be done and what cannot.  Nobody in Madison seems to have a clue because they are hundreds of miles away, don't have the information or bother to look it up, They obviously don't call Illion to check.  Is there a complete inventory listing missing between Illion and Madison?  Why isn't Customer support in the same building with the shop.  I worked in inside sales for years.  If a customer had a question and I didn't know the answer, I went to the shop and talked with the boss.  I found out first hand what could be done and what couldn't.  It appears to me Madison simply reads the catalog listings and nothing more.  CS has improved, but not enough to get four or five stars.

If I'm gonna rant some more about H&R.  I've got a couple of gripes....Why don't they go back to the Topper contoured rifle barrels and why don't they simply ream the .357 to Maxi when they make them.  To me, they're a no-brainers and would increase sales.  Example:  Why sell a barrel that  will shoot .38 Special and .357 Magnum only when you can sell the same barrel/rifle that will shoot .38 Special, .357 Magnum. .360 Dan Wesson and .357 Maximum?  The .45LC barrel could go to .454 or .460.  The versatility alone should sell the package.  Ask anyone here.  They all shoot well.

I think H&R should fire all the Top Brass and put Brian and Tim in charge and we'd get the Handis we want that actually work.

End of rant.

Pete

:) BIG Thank You again to Brian. This one's a second for me.
Ironically, it was for a barrel purchase about a couple of years ago the first time around. Now, it's for refitting that same barrel to one of my new frames this time around. ;D

And to celebrate the joyous occasion, I darn gave in and bought two more handi's.
Well, at least I'm letting the right people know how I'm feeling right now. :P
