Out of all the various Scandinavian knives I think the Finns make the ones that most appeal to me.

I've owned a couple of those over the years. They are good servisable knives...  ;)  I tend to like stag handles on my knives so my using knives are not usually as plane as the scandinavian knives and I prefer a sheath with belt loops, but other than that I could be happy using one as a field knife..

I have a pretty old one (came out an old Finn trappers basement way up toward the Apostle Islands); the handle is pretty, has burl figure and holds a nice edge. It is small enough, in its original fitted sheath, to be a nice neck knife. I really need to carry and use it more. Im sure you can get a lifetime or two out of yours; enjoy.

Wade garrett carries all sorts of neat stuff like that
Middle is a swedish knife kit the bottom is Russian
most use the laminated blade like the Puukko.

Any help with the 'script' on my old blade?
It lies in the 'blood groove' and is very stylized, looks to be something like 'L o K    Kaua  Ara'  ???
The handle is a nicely proportioned (better than so many of the new ones I see) piece of burly birch and there is some 'walking track' engraving on the ferrule.
The sheath has that cute little Finn 'curley foot' and a tasty stamped pattern and emblem.
I know, pics would be so helpful, but I aint there yet.........
Update 2-11-14:
I found a pic of a similar one online and a link to the maker info. Its a Lisakki Jarvenpaa of Kauhava, Finland, and by the features possibly made 1905-1939.
