1898 .30-40 krag front sight blade

  Hello all,  I have a 1898 Springfield that is missing the front sight blade.  I have some material that I can make one out of, but I would really like to make it as close to original as possible.  Where can I find a drawing for this?  Thanks,   John   :)

Numrich gun parts has exploded drawings on their web site for ordering parts, but I don't know if you can get any detail from that.  While you're there though, just see how much they want for one and maybe you'll find buying is less trouble than building in this case.  I just bought an ejector from them to replace the broken ejector on my 1898 Krag.  I received it and it looks fine but I haven't installed it yet to check function.

Steelworker:  as Curtis suggested, try Numrich but also try SAMCO and SARCO.  If the front sight on the Krag is dovetailed into a base on the barrel, you may want to try a Mauser front sight blade to see if that fits - I think you can get front sight  replacements from Brownells for the Mausers.
