« on: January 24, 2011, 05:02:17 AM »
I have an old shotgun and am refinising the wood.  I want to take of the slide handle but do not have assembly instructions.  I have seen the parts picture, but am would like to see instructions - if available.

In most cases a Y shape spaner is the proper tool to remove the forearm nut but lots of folks just use a punch and light taps to get it moveing and then hand turn

I just had the same problem with my recently acquired Mod 25. I had the removal tool and the nut would NOT come off. Here is how I finally got it loose off.
1. Remove the action bar assembly from the gun.
2. Mix up a batch of 1 part auto transmission fluid and 1 part acetone in a metal bottle lid. Do this outside and use gloves.
3. Soak a toothbrush in the mixture and brush it in where the nut screws onto the tube. Let sit about 4 hours and repeat. I did this for 2 days.
4. Get a helper to hold down the assembly
5. Get a cheater bar- a piece of pipe about 2 feet in length that fits tightly over the removal tool handle.
6. Get another helper to push the removal tool tightly into the slots on the nut.
7. Pull on the cheater bar SLOWLY-don't jerk it-you mite hurt  one of your helpers if the tool slips.

Don't worry- it will come off.

email me if you want to.
