new 7.62x39

I am new to reloading the 7.62x39 and was wondering if the S&B brass cased ammo from cabelas is relodable ? They don't state if it is boxer primed or not. It is only 10 bucks a box so thought it would be a way to get some cheep brass. A friend of mine insists you can reload the wolf steel cases but I have always heard this is not a good practice. Any thoughts on these subjects would be appreciated . Thanks Mark

All of the S&B brass I've seen is reloadable, but I found the primer pockets to be a bit on the small side so I culled them and tossed them in my scrap brass bucket.  As I recall, what I ran into was .38 spl and 9mm, I don't know about any others though.

I've also heard you can't (or shouldn't) reload the steel cases, but all I've come across were berdan primed anyway so it doesn't matter.

Generally the S & B steel case ammo is berdan primed the brass case ammo is boxer,a primer pocket uniformer will take care of tight primer pockets in S & B brass.

LR primes by brand tend to be between .210 and .212 in dia. and will fit  tighter in some brass cases than others.

The Lyman primer pocket uniformer I have doesn't cut the sides of the pocket, just the bottom - it was a really tight fit in the S&B, too.  What brand do you use that cuts the sides?

The only S&B brass I've reloaded were .357 mag and 8x57.Only hitch I found was the .357 brass was shorter than the trim to size.Really like the 8x57 brass.No trouble with it.
