How does one find a 1911 frame?
« on: April 24, 2011, 12:02:43 PM »
Hey I am not qualified to be a "gun Build guy" so I may need a bit of guidence. After some thought I would like to find a frame to park a Ciener 22 conversion on.

What do I need to know? How much should a good functioning maybe cosmetically challanged one cost?

Thanks Hank

There are a number of suppiers providing frames.

But your gonna need allot more parts... Why not look for a decient used 45 and rebuild it?

Brownells have the frames and parts you need to put it together. I bet there's a ton of videos out there on assembly. It's not especially difficult.

you can get an inexpensive frame from SARCO Inc for $89.00 (Rock Island Armory brand) They also have one with most parts already installed.. They also have all the parts you need to build one.
If you want it destroyed right, call in a B-52

I have everything to build a 1911 in 45acp but the frame.  My local dealers turn there noses up at me when i ask them if they can get me a new frame so i can do my 1911 build.  I have no clue as to why.  My point is i would look for a used shooter/beater and change the slide out on that.
