Need a TCR Extractor
« on: April 26, 2011, 11:22:19 AM »
Greetings,
I traded for a barrel over a forum and when it arrived, much to my chagrin, the extrator was all munged up.  I called TC customer service, they said they would look for one, several emails and calls later, nothing found.  Does anyone have any idea on where I can get an extractor for a 243/30-06 case head size?  I'm kind of stuck and next step is a machine shop unless someone has a better idea.  Numrich does not have one either.  Please let me know if you have an idea or a lead.

thanks,
 Graycg

Graycg -  If you have another barrel of the .243/.30-06 family of cartridges it would be fast and easy to switch it between the two barrels. My experience with having had things custom made by gunsmiths is that it is very expensive and would guess it would cost $100 or so. If you don't have another barrel for the .243/.30-06 family of cartridges it might be a good excuse to buy one. Virgin Valley in Utah (now out of business) made some extractors. It may be possible to find out who got their left over parts. Also, SSK Industries used to do custom TCR barrels. Maybe they still have some extractors. - DON

Try Ed's contenders in Oklahoma he is a sponser on the hand gun forum but call as he does not do emails and has a lot of TC parts, also I think that MGM is now the old virgin Valley company and they should still have some parts.

Gents,
good ideas all, I will persue.  I feel bad about the repair folks at TC, I think they got whacked.
