anyone shoot a LEE REAL 250 grain in their huntsman?
« on: September 04, 2012, 07:26:54 PM »
Hi guys,

I just bought a LEE REAL 250 grain mold cause the local shop had it for 12 bucks. does anyone shoot this? How's it working for you?

I notice the bullets slide real easy down the barrel. rifling barely engraves. is this normal? is this what happens in YOUR huntsman?

That is all I use, 90 grains of triple 7 and it shoots at 1950fps, also it shoots at under 2 inches at 100 yards, hope this helps. I will be trying bh209 soon, will let you know how it works

is it a tight fit, or does it *almost* (but not) slide down the bore with nothing but the rod pressing down on it?

interesting. it shot very poorly in mine. 85ish grains or American Pioneer. I'll give it a second chance.

Never had any accuracy out of American Pioneer and some erraticness out of shockey's extra gold by the same company.  Their inconsistent grain size really makes it hard to get consistent results.  I've had better luck with 777 or Pyrodex Rifle/Pistol variants and have returned now to Goex FFFg.  Still best with real black powder.  ;)

not pure. stick on wheel weights. Thereore, I can not confirm it.

I'd use goEx for sure if it were available. american pioneer FFF is defintiely more accurate than the stick powder. At least with the sabot stuff.

It COULD be bore fit too, I've never used an REAL before, and it sure plunks down into the barrel easy. WAY easier than any sabot I've ever used!

You guys rock. Opened up the mold a little bit and dropped the powder charge to 50 grains of FFF.

Shoots as good as my hunting load. Except there's no recoil.

Thanks a bunch!
