30s express

I just picked up a 30s express in 30 cal 1906. I have always liked the 17 enfields and now to have the civilian version. I spent the last couple of nights getting her all cleaned up, boy does that action operate smoothly. the cock on open is nice too. She looks to not have been used all that much and bore cleaned up real nice. Can't wait to shoot her, the head space checked out nice and tight. Would like to share pics but I am not that computer literate. I have been looking on net for more info on the model 30, but would love to hear from some of the experts here about the Model 30.

Wow, not many ole 30 fans? I cleaned her up and put back together. Test shooting Sat and looked like about 2 inch group circular pattern at 100 yds. The barrel is barrely touching most of way to tip of stock, so put two thickness of atm reciept paper under tip of forearm, and Viola 3/4 inch group right now.
Also used a little alcohol and toothbrush to clean all the old dirty grim out of the checkering, thin coat of oil and looks about like new now.

You have a rifle to be proud of.  I had a 1917 military model and loved to shoot it.  I always wanted an Express.  It looks like bad big game rife.  Congratulations on your find.  Let us see some pictures.

here,s my rem 30s made in 1937 in 3006,i like it. i have not had time to work with it yet. but at 50yds with handloads it shoots one hole with the original 2.5 lyman alaskan. i want to refinish the stock and put a better scope on it. eastbank.

JMHO, who ever put that bipod on it, really ruined the looks of a fine rifle.  Bipods are fine on plastic rifles, but to ruin a fine piece of wood is blasphemous.  Use a shooting stick if you have to have to use a prop.  Sorry, I didn't mean to hijack your post, but I hate to see a classic rifle bastardized. 

You have a classic to be proud of.  Enjoyed seeing the pics.  I would keep the Alaskan scope on it, of course it depends on what you are planning on hunting.

the bipod is a harris and can be taken off or put on in about 20 second in the front factory sling eyelet. i make no excuses,its easier for me to shoot on a bench with it than without it. so put on your rifle what you want and i,ll put on my rifles what i want. eastbank.

i.m not upset,the bipod is a shooting aid,just like a scope or slip on recoil pad and may be taken off or put on as you will with out hurting the rifle. eastbank.
