when i was a teenager my stepfather showed me a way to set for fox set rite off the trail and rub canned dogfood (chicken flavored ) on a tree about 18 ins. up set the trap at the base of the tree. then bend over a stout bush and cut the top out of in and stick it in the griund where it will stay when the fox gets in the trap it puls the limb out and it acts like a spring so the fox cant pull out it works i once caught a nice grey fox by just 2 toes. i was wondering if this would work for coyote?

Fish,at times you can catch an animal at any set.I would think you will take more numbers in dirt holes, flat sets, post sets. Also the addition of shock springs would work well for these animals.   Tom

The Coyote will eat your tree and leave with your trap. They are not to be under estimated. I stake every coyote trap with disposible stakes and so deep that I have to use a puller to get them out, on the plus side there also theft proof.
When I come up on a set that someone has tried to steal, I always hope the guy pulled his back out tryin to steal my trap........B........
