BIRDSEYE MAPLE STOCKS
« on: June 01, 2011, 04:56:36 PM »
Finished up these Bisley stocks today from a nice piece of Birdseye Maple, I think the guys down in New Mexico will like these a lot when we get together next week.

Here it is tucked away in my Barranti crossdraw rig. The stocks really look nice on the blued Bisley 44.

Those are beautiful.  I've always been a fan of maple.  Truth be told, though I LOVE wooden stocks on a gun, I've never gotten the fascination with walnut - at least the look of it.  There are so many woods that IMHO look a lot better, this being a prime example.

Love the maple for stocks. Never had it on a handgun , had it on a rifle which I sold under duress. ;D

The grips are awesome!
Years ago my parents bought a house that came completely furnished. In it was a bedroom set of Birds Eye Maple. The bed was a sleigh head board and foot board. There was a dresser, vanity with mirror, rocking chair and a vanity chair. Now picture that many sq/ft of Birds eye maple, it's overwhelming. Not very pretty in my opinion.
Neither my sister or I wanted it, so they sold that set for $200 less than they paid for the house, full of furniture.
