Not much more I can say to the Men, Women and Family's who have sacrificied so much for me to live the way I do and have the liberty's I enjoy. All of you from the armed forces, law enforcement and the firefighters I say THANK YOU!!!!  Kurt

Patty and I just said a last goodbye to a friend, a World War II combat veteran.  We're burying him Monday with full military honors.  Appropriate, I think.

i have (you could say) raised 9 great men that have performed in excellence for the fight of terrorism. my son, gunny sgt armorer special forces USMC. today on tha phone they all said  "don't thank us, its our honorable job to protect as needed. just thank god for our ability to serve our country".

i wish they were here to cellebrate tomorrow. but you can bet, my heart and soul will be with them in there mission.
i'm proud of all that are and have served. with none forgotten...
thank you for all you do for us and our country.

Why is it that we do not realize what folks have done for us until we get older?

Thanks to my great, great grandfather, 15th Massachusetts Volunteers, Civil War, Corporal Charles Gammage, wounded and captured by the South at the Battle of Ball's Bluff/Harrison's Island/Leesburg 1861.

My grandfather William Bryant, Sapper, Signals Corps, WWI, telephone cable runner from front line trenches to artillery batteries, decorated for bravery under heavy bombardment at Molincourt, France, 1917.

Raymond Lewis, my father, WWII, radio operator/top gunner, 1944, night time bombing of Rabaul, Japanese Pacific HQ from Goodenough Island, New Guinea.

Thanks to all who serve for doing what you do, and I do understand you do it for your children, born and unborn.

I have always felt two years compulsory military service should be in force for all Americans, both men and women.  My tiny little feminine wife served and did a very good job.  So there is jobs in the military all women are suited for. 

In the case of contentious objectors, there are jobs for them as well.  Finance, billeting, food services, MWR (Moral Welfare, and Recreation).  It would save the tax payer money, and give everyone training in a job they could fall back on if needed.  I started life in the military as a Plumber, my wife started as a Clerk Typist.

If a person was too incompetent to serve, they are too incompetent to vote.

My AMEN to all the sentiment expressed here.  Thanks to my younger brother, L.Cpl Larry C. Cope, USMC, wounded in Vietnam and eventually killed.  He did not know it until he got back home and developed cancer due to exposure to Agent Orange.  God bless all past present and future!
