Kurt
I have a 10" SSK 300 Whisper, I shot CorBon 150 gr ammo last year, which had good accuracy.   This year I handloaded for it and used a 125 gr Remington PSP to take a small buck.  I'm getting 2050 fps with my handloads.

Did you buy yours for hunting or target? Are you reloading for it or using factory?

My 10" and 14" pistol forends do not fit my 16 1/4" barrels.

I have a 300 Whisper 14" barrel. I'm shooting Cor Bon 125gr. ammo in it. If i do my part it will shoot 3/8" inch 3 shot groups at 100 yds. My most accurate barrel so far.

I bought it mostly for hunting but will probly play with it this summer on targets also. I wanted the longer barrel so I can put my butstock on it at times. Right now I am just gonna use factory ammo as I have never handloaded anything not sure yet if I will want to get that far into it yet and I may just try to purchace some custom hand loads from others. How far can you download and how hot can this caliber be made?

I have a 14" Custom Shop barrel also..I have loaded everything from 90 XTP's tp 180 grain Speers.  Really enjoy shooting it..though I have not killed a head of game with it. My deer load is loaded with the 125 grain BTs.

Kurt,
If you buy a barrel over 16 inches , unless you specify otherwise, the fore end screw holes will be drilled for a rifle fore end.

Kurt, the Whisper is an outstanding round.  I shoot 125gr Nosler Balistic Tips over H110 powder.  I run mine near max in my 10" Contender and it groups wonderful.  My twist is 1 in 10" so the subs do not work.

I was able to take 2 deer this season with this combo, the Whisper is perfect for whitetail.......  A friend just ordered a fast twist, 12" from Mr. Jones yesterday after seeing how it puts down deer first hand....  He was a loyal 44Mag man.

Do you know what twist your is?

If you get into reloading, the Whisper just gets better.......

Have fun and keep us posted!  jh

No I don't know what the twist is its 16 1/4 long and it was made for another guy on here (Killab) but he ordered a contender and they sent a encore just happened I was looking for the very same thing as him and was finally able to get it without the wait. I am pretty new to all this twist and ballistics stuff so I should have lots of fun learning how to play with loads . Problem is I just bought myself another gun for christmas and with CHRISTmas presents and I leave on the 6th for a 7 day bow hunt my mad money is slim so I need to sell another barrel and a few bows before I get into handloadin or the wife will be able to follow a paper trail and it will lead right to me and it's to damn cold outside for that to happen.Kurt

Kurt,
Figuring out rate of twist is purdy easy. Just take a cleaning rod with .30 caliber brush on it and push through to muzzle. Put a mark on breech end of rod "next to breech" then pull back out watching your mark until it rotates "1" time, then measure distance from mark to breech.
