Handi Rifle in a 50 cal.muzzleloader
« on: January 24, 2004, 10:15:19 AM »
Howdy Folks, I bought my 3 boys a H&R Handi Rifle(youth) in 243cal. before the last deer seasons and the two oldest (8 and 10) really enjoyed hunting w/ it, although it was a little heavy for both of them, ground hunting offered them penty of shooting rests. I am thinking about sending the reciever back to H&R to have a blackpower barrel fitted to the frame. I was wondreing if anyone out there has a .50 cal. muzzleloader in this rifle and how does it perform?

                                                                  Thanks,

                                                                          SB

While I have never fired it, a buddy of mine has a .50 Caliber NEF Muzzle Loader. He really likes it, and if memory serves me correctly has talken a couple whitetails with it.

I am kind of in the same boat. I bought my daughter a Stainless-Synthetic NEF Handi-Rifle in .243 for last Deer Season. I too am trying to decide if I should send the action in and get a Stainless-Steel .50 Caliber Muzzle Loader Barrel for it. Not sure if my Daughter or I will ever go hunting during the Muzzle Loader season, but for $110.00 (for the Stainless-Steel Barrel) I'd have the barrel if I ever got the itch to do so.

NEF has just recently updated their web site to included the new Stainless-Steel Handi-Rifles and Accessory Barrels that are new for '04. I do know that the frame from my Stainless-Steel .223 NEF Handi-Rifle will be going in to NEF to be fitted with a Stainless-Steel .270 Winchester Barrel in the not to distant future.
