any of youse who shoots Sierra bullets and have a manual by them I need the load data y'all have and what the book says for the Sierra (DUH) 110gr .30 .308dia Varminter with Varget powder. And just for the heck if it i got Federal Primers and Winchester/Federal Brass.

I checked...and unfortunatly...Siera doesn't list Varget as a tested powder with the 110 grain bullets....in their second........ or 5th edition...which is the current one

Hodgdon annual manual list the 110 Barnes XFB

Lyman's 48th edition shows the 110 Sierra...but no Varget...

So...you might want to rethink your powder choice...all of them show Varget coming into play with the 150 grain loads...

Now from the 13th edition Speer manual.....switching to the Speer 110 grain sp...and they show a load with using mil-spec IMI cases...#34 primers...and a starting load of 46.0 grains for 2916....and a max load of 48.0 compressed...for 3062fps...from a 22" barrel...

I'm not recommending using this data for your Sierras...or Federal cases...and if you want some different powder choices from the Sierra manual...PM me...I'll be glad to list them for you...they have 15 different powders listed...

48.0gr STARTING load seems high to me but what do i know?

Well...if that's what they said...it shouldn't hurt to try...the Speer data is with mil spec'd brass...and it usually has less case capacity so...the 50 grains compressed sounds about right...

My motto is when in doubt ...call them...so go for it...and let us know how it shoots ehh !!!

I was on the Hunterslife forum and theres a thread saying that Nosler Ballistic tips suck in deer dropping. I have BT's man if they're right this year is gonna be bad, so either prove em wrong or buy something else with MOA@100yrd accuracy.

Well...I trust the techs at Sierra...and if they say its safe...then just follow their instructions...as to the Ballistic Tips...I'm assuming your talking about the ones for the 308?...If you are...stick with the 150 grainers or 165 grainers...they do real well on whitetails...I'd worry a bit if I was using the 125 BT's and a deer got up on me inside 50 to 100 yards...some folks swear by them...but I won't take the chance with them...it's just not worth it...I'll save the 125 bt's for smaller critters...or in a 30-30 Handi...at those velocities...they might do a whole lot better...

yea i'll have two loads then for my .308. Nosler 165gr Ballistic Tip with Varget and the Sierra 110gr. Varminter on Varget as well.

alright finally got em and tried em'. I see a very nice 1.010" @50yrds group which would have been like .25" if i hadn't had a off-center hold. This was done laying atop a pile of fire wood so i didn't have a comfy/stable rest, just prone on some wood.

this was
Sierra 110gr Varminter, 48gr of Varget by Hodgdon, CCI200 primers and Winchester cases. .308 Winchester caliber.

Hello,

I know this is bringing up an old one, but I am trying to develop a similar load for myself the 110 Sierra's for small game and a 150 Core Lokt for for the government goats. Do you have any additional info the reliability of the load or any changes you made to you setup? Also do you happen to know the twist rate on you rifle, mine is 1:9 not sure how that would affect the accuracy.

Again sorry for bring an old one up but I would like to start out on the right foot.
