MEMORIAL DAY
« on: May 28, 2011, 03:18:56 PM »
Tomorrow being MEMORIAL DAY let's all remember what we are celebrating.
Please take a moment and say a small prayer for all our military that have and are protecting this great country of ours.
I know I will !!!

"THE TREE OF LIBERTY FROM TIME TO TIME MUST BE REFRESHED WITH THE BLOOD OF PATRIOTS AND TYRANTS".
THOMAS JEFFERSON

That my two young sons may never have to know the horrors of war.

I will stand for your rights as my forefathers did before me!

My thanks to those who have, are and will stand for mine!

To those in the military, I salute you!

Hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable MEMORIAL DAY!!!   :)

Every year we go to Garnettsville cemetary bordering Ft Knox. We will place flowers at 2 graves. Both civil war soldiers, a 19 yr old confederate captain, and a Union soldier who lived through the war and mustered out in Lou Ky. We pause a bit and say a short prayer that they have found the peace they both fought  so hard for. POWDERMAN.  ;D ;D
Mr. Charles Glenn “Charlie” Nelson, age 73, of Payneville, KY passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021 at his residence. RIP Charlie, we'll will all miss you. GB

I live a little south of PowderMan.  It is unfortunate that Memorial Day is observed as a day to remember ALL who have passed.  I'm not sure if that is a local custom only but I find altering the meaning of this day to be a sad thing.  It's always been that way around here from my earliest memories.

Thanks to those serving, those who have given and those who have Given All!

The boy scouts usually adorn all the veterans graves with flags, they didn't this year, I was a bit disappointed. POWDERMAN.  :( :(

Yes; it is sad to think of the life we've missed with our brave loved ones who laid down their lives for our freedom...  But remember, if we don't fight to the shedding of 'blood' our life of liberty and justice for all will be taken away from us.  The priveleges of America are colored 'BLOOD RED'.  Nobody gave them to us, we earned every bit of 'em by our sweat, blood, and guts.   And we'll have to continue to fight with every tooth and nail to keep it from here on out.

Enjoy your rights to keep and bear arms.
