The look you present is almost as important as how you shoot and when you shoot like I do you gotta go for looks.  If you have done any investigating you know that it costs to be a CAS shooter.  Wheelguns (a pair) can set you back $700 and up, the shotgun is around $175 if you go for a SxS on the internet--Win 97 clone is $350, and a real one .  Saw a Win 94 in LC for $300.  And then there is leather and something to haul everything around in (poor sentence, ending in a preposition but then I'm the art teacher, my wife is the English teacher.)
Most, if not all clubs want you to shoot.  Period clothing will come as your funds recover so don't let not having the "right" duds keep you from the range.
I ran into "the last one" cowboy hat at Tractor Supply Co (here is TX).  And found some discounted shirts:  all for $32 total.  Wrangler jeans works for me right now.  Got some long sleeve red henley shirts at the local T-shirt shop--these are my long underwear.  Did spring for a Wah Maker vest and found a duster on the web, both right at $60 each.  Had the boots and am looking at some period pants with suspenders.  Probably looking at $250 when all is said and done.
All I know is that I feel much more a part of the CAS group dressed like them.  They don't seem to mind (as long as you have something on) but I feel better--heard instinct I guess.

I have to agree with you. I have spent a few coins on clothes during my 5 years in this sport. BUT, in my opinion, that is a big part of the attraction of CAS.  If you look around at thrift stores and Goodwill, you can find good deals on period looking shirts and vests. I picked up a banded collar shirt for a buck and a vest for $3. My wife found a pair of equestrian riding boots at a garage sale for me for $5.

It doesn't take a lot of $$ or effort to get an outfit together that will make you feel like an old time cowboy.

Looking the part is half the fun for me, and I've done most of it on a shoestring budget.  Goodwill is a good starting place as is wally world. A pair of Dickies, add suspender buttons, some remove the belt loops, and ya got yerself a cowboy briches

Sometime after you've decided that you just don't like that shirt, this vest and have outgrown those pants clean'em up and take'em to your next shoot put a good price on'em lay'em out on the tailgate, and add one more aspect to the joy's of CAS.

Walt, why doncha bag up some bullets and offer them for sale, it don't have to be a profit makin thing, though there ain't nothin wrong with that, but it sure would be a convenience for some of us that have to travel for or mailorder cast bullets!!

Gotta gun you just don't like or don't match what ya got, take it with ya too!
