Decision Headache
« on: December 25, 2003, 03:06:30 AM »
I'm planning on a new deer round for the Encore in a 15". I've been shooting a 45-70 in the past, but thought a little more range capability would be nice at times.
Initially, I was thinking a .243, but started to look at options. Which I'm looking at the 7-08, 260, and the 257 Roberts.  :?
I thought I'd see what you all thought, and make up my mind from there.

i love my 15" 7-08, but all those you mention will do equally well on deer size game. the 7-08 will be easier to find in a factory barrel. fox ridge barrels are really not a lot more expensive than the factory ones though. plus OTT custom barrels(board advertiser) are only $250 in blue, and $285 in stainless. i know a feller shootin the .257, and he just loves it. looks like a win-win-win situation.

Thanks for the input Kyode. I made up my mind, but changed it in the process. I decided on a 30-40 Krag AI.  Don't know why. When I was considering smaller, lighter, faster, but the 30-40 isn't no slouch either. most likeky get a 257 some day also though.
