Marlin 70, 700, 795, 7000 parts question
« on: March 06, 2005, 05:08:24 PM »
Does anyone know if the trigger group/action parts on these guns are interchangable?   I picked up a nice, older style 700 and have had it lying around.   The only thing wrong with it is that the rear takedown screw hole in the trigger guard is cracked.   I'd like to replace it and can get either the 70 or 7000 trigger assembly through brownells for pretty cheap.
I have a total of three questions on this little project gun:
1- Will the parts interchange between models?
2- Will the "new" style (with integral clip slot) fit the "old" style (which had a separate clip slot?
3-Does anyone make aftermarket bull barrels for these?
Thanks,
Doc

You might try looking on the web site for the Gun Parts Corp. AKA Numrich Arms. See if they have the same parts numbers listed for the different guns.

Marlin 70, 700, 795, 7000 parts question

Thanks for the input Rusty,
I've found Numrich and I get gunsmith prices at Brownell's.   What I couldn't find out was whether the model 70 new style trigger guard would line up to the old style.   The old style had a two piece setup with a separate part for the magazine well that screws onto the actual trigger guard.
I spoke with Marlin's fantastic customer service folks this morning and found out that the older 70s and 700 use the trigger group from the model 60 with the extra piece screwed to the front.   I will order that from Brownell's for a whopping $13 on friday and have a completely restored carbine with the barrel now floated (I got bored and had to play around over the weekend.).
With the barrel floated and the broken trigger group, I got 1" 50yrd groups out of it with Seller and Bellot green box and CCI predator gave me 1.25" @ 50 yrd.   That's plenty good for a $80 truck gun.
Now I'm starting to figure out a bullpup stock design for it just for kicks.
Hmmmmm.
Thanks again,
Doc

I am trying to find out if a Marlin 7000 will drop into the stock intended for a 795.  The 7000 has a bull barrel, but other than that they look the same in pictures.  You can buy replacement stocks for the 795, but not for a 7000.  I was hoping that I can make a 795 stock fit.  Plan to call the factory after the holiday.  Please advise.

Just received and mounted a red-white & blue laminated stock for my Marlin7000.  Bought it on EBay from someone in the Northeast.  Said it was for a 7000T but it fit perfectly.  Came with a rubber adjustable butt pad, but with no mounting hardware.  I think I will bypass the "adjustable" part and just mount the pad permanently.  Looks great.  Anxious to take it out to the range to give it a try.
