GMX Range report
« on: June 04, 2011, 05:45:40 AM »
Bought some Hornady GMX bullets to test in my rifle. 165gr GMX is longer than a 200gr Sierra gameking so I thought they might just work. I loaded 3 different loads. 2760 fps, 2850fps and just over 2900fps.
About 2.5mm (0.1 inch) from the lands. All 3 loads printed less than 1 inch at 100 meters with the fastest one the best at about half an inch.
So now I just have to go and field test them!

Looking for your field report on the GMX.  Your old 6.5X55 reports were gooding reading.

I have a box of 130 grain GMX for the .270 set aside.

It's a 300 Winmag. Zastava rifle with double trigger.  I know I can push the fps some more
but I will rather settle on a more accurate slower load. (This will also help in the long run with barrel life)

you cant argue with accuracy like that! Ive got a bdl 7mag that is sighted in right now with 140 nosler Etip solid copper bullets. It shoots them into an inch at a 100. Not as good as your load but pretty good. Im waiting for crop damage shooting to start next month to see how they work on deer too.
