I have it on good authority that the telepromter is writing a stern letter.

Nope!  Neither one.  Both are very similiar to the 308Win in case head size and pressure.  Sorry!

I agree with the above.

NOOOOO! The Contender frame is built to handle pressures under 45,000 CUP (pressure). Those round are considerably over that pressure. Even the 223 Remington with factory loads made for rifles can eventually stretch the frame on a Contender because they run in the 47,000 to 50,000 CUP range. If you want a hot 30 cal for a Contender get you a 30-30AI or a 309 JDJ. The 30-30AI is easier to load for and in a pinch you can shoot factory 30-30 Win in it and they are accurate. The best way to get 30-30AI cases is to shoot factory 30-30 Win ammo to practice with and you end up with your fire formed 30-30AI cases. The loading dies for the 30-30AI are much less expensive also. Lee makes a good set of dies for the 30-30AI. I get 2670 fps out of my 14" MGM SS barrel with 33 grs IMR 4198, WW case, Wolf LR primer and 125 Nosler ballistic tips. They hammer deer and will shoot under 1" @ 100 yards all day.

So you won't be confused by "case head size"... its the internal diameter of the case in square inches, not the external size that is used to calculate back pressures.

Both the 307 Win and 356 Win are the parent cases used for the Super Bower wildcats that were developed for the Contenders (22, 6mm, 6.5mm, 7mm, 30 Alaskan, 358 & 429).    So improving the parent cases can allow the wildcats based on otherwise no-no cases to be shot safely on the Contender platform sometimes.

So if you want a 30 caliber with a little more oomph for your Contender, the Bower 30 Alaskan, SSK 309JDJ or 30-30AI will all get it for you safely.

Edit to add:  The Contender was designed to operate at up to 48,000 CUP.
Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus
