I wouldn't recommend it, the chamber wall likely isn't thick enough, 3½" pressures are higher than 3", 14kpsi compred to 11.5kpsi.

I believe the only ones that are being reamed are the big ultra slugger bbl's must be a reason for it. Kurt

I have never seen 3.5" 12 ga slug ammo.  Hastings was reaming Ultra Slug hunters to 3.5" but it was only the 20 ga versions.

I think Lightfield might make 3.5" slugs but my shoulder hurts just thinking about it.

I stand corrected.  In an unmodified Tracker II that would be interested to watch someone else shoot one. :o   I think I will stick with my 410 slug gun.  At $3.50 to $4.00 dollars a round you would want to use a single shot as a man could go broke with them things in a autoloader. ;)

In the big bore forum, the 12GA(FH) post got me thinking.  I saw that the remington buckhammers, according to Ed run 15k pressure (post #45, page 2)........ I have shot them in the tracker 2 with no issues.  Now if his pressures are correct, then the Lightfields would work in the tracker 2.  Does anyone know the pressures according to remington for the buckhammers, I have not gotten a response from them.

Also consider a quote from James Gates, president and owner, of Dixie Slugs, "We should considerr our work within 14,500 psi. Since there are no old firearms in the new 3 1/2" shell, allowable pressures have been set up. However the frames on the 3 1/2" guns are the same parts, etc. as the 3" guns." - http://shootersforum.com/showthread.htm?p=70068 - "For those that plan to go higher than the loads tested, I suggest buying a NEF single barrel.".  Now I have talked to James this spring and ask him about shooting his loads in my tracker 2, which he said was fine.  Now I do trust what Tim is saying, I really do, but is SAAMI giving a pressure based on older 12 gauge guns or is this a case of conservative ratings.  I'm am not trying to get band here, or an up rising of the masses, just a question based on all the sources I ask.  I want to do as much research as possible before I make, what could be, a critical error.....  Again thanks for all the info.

Ron,

The USH 12 ga barrel and the Tracker II are not the same animal.  The USH is factory D/T for a scope base while H&R does not D/T the tracker II 12 ga barrel.  The USH 12 ga uses the 10 ga SB2 frame so it has a large diameter at the chamber swell than the 12 ga. tracker barrel.  The extra range or energy you get from the 3.5 inch sabot may not be worth the risk you would be taking with a 3.5" chambered Tracker II.

H&R does offer 3½" 12ga on standard barreled SB1 framed shotguns, but I'd surely not drill and tap the T2 for a scope base, that could be a disaster waiting to happen, probably be Ok using the barrel sight tho.
