Nitro Marvel
« on: June 28, 2011, 04:05:16 PM »
My newest "old toy" is a Nitro Marvel single barrel 12GA.   The general concensis is they were made by Stevens from 1895 to approximately 1920, but the name was dropped before Savage bought Stevens that same year.   A similar model was apparently made from 1920-1932 marked Savage-Stevens.   With the low serial number this one is probably over 100 years old, but they have no collector value.   This one is in great conditon, good enough that I'd like to try a low base in it if I had any.    Would be fun to jump shoot jacks with.   I'll have to take pictures...

Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

Thanks for the suggestion.   I'd thought about the Remington STS Managed Recoil Target loads as well.

I have found low recoil don't always mean low pressure and I'm not sure what the Remington psi is. We tested the Winchester at a lab so I know they are safe even in 2 1/2" chambered twelves.
