However, Chief Daryl Webster responded with an interoffice correspondence that it was a community outreach operation, which is a function of community policing, which is as much a part of police work as responding to calls.

The TPD and Webster can say it is a "community outreach operation" all they want, but the police department was not putting this thing on, the mosque was.  Can I have a backyard barbeque, invite the chief of police, call it an outreach operation and if he doesn't show up, cause his suspension?

Another problem with ordering cops to attend a function at a religious establishment...Where are they supposed to come from? Are they to be ordered in on their free time so the taxpayers have to pay them overtime? Are they to be ordered in on their free time and not to be paid at all? Are they to be taken out of the regular scheduled staff that day so the taxpaying public is denied safety services it is paying for so some politician can pander to some religious whack job? Either way it is wrong. This mosque IS A CHURCH. You want seperation of church and state so no better place to start than HERE AND NOW. Or is there some wording buried deep in the constitution that says "seperation of christian and jewish churches and state. All other religions must be pandered to."

yellow. It wasn't a question of LETTING his men go, but about ordering them to go. Not sure I understand your question about living room or porch. If you simply mean an outer room of the lair, it's all part of the lair to me. POWDERMAN.
