Got a new Big Boy .357 today
« on: June 18, 2011, 12:44:46 PM »
Well I took the plunge.  Sold a Winchester 300 win mag at the gun show and turned around and bought a new Big Boy chambered in .357.  My first question is, has anyone found a consistently reliable .38 special that seems to work?  Or do these smaller rounds cause FT F's and hiccups?
Also has anyone found a good scope mount?  I have 2-3 scopes here so might as well use one. Makes up for my weak eyes.
Last but not least, this looks like a great rifle and a nice forum for Henry.
Oh,what soldme on Henry?  Louis L'amour's books sold me. :-) :-)

You do know the Henry in the books is nothing like the Henry you bought....right?

If you dont want to add a scope, maybe try our new Skinner "BIG BOY" sight.  Mounts in the factory supplied screw holes and gives a great sight picture!

Yeah, I gathered the new ones weren't like the old ones.
Re sight:  I think I'll go with a scope, but haven't decided 100%.  At 72 I
now wear glasses and find peephole type sights a little harder to use.
(I shoot an Anschutz 1813 Super Match, and will probably go to a scope
on it also).  Thanks for the tips.

Congradulations on the Big Boy. I love mine and it is fun to shoot. I'm still working out the sight issue. I don't want to break of the lines with a scope and may look into the Skinner idea.

Just got mine today!
Old eyes are tough......I will try it out with the factory one first and if necessary I will look around at all other options.

It cycled 10 rounds of WWB .38 special FMJ perfectly. Smoothest lever I have ever had.
