I absouletly love my 4 5/8s 44 spec bisley
I like adjustable sights on any revolver I plan to do any serious shooting with as those with fixed sights are never remotely close to where I am aiming on target. I also prefer the Bisley grip and rat now Lipsey's is offering a limited number of both the .44 Special and .45 Colt with Bisley grip. I'm waiting for one in .44 Special to arrive now. In the mean time I picked up this .45 Colt yesterday.

Really nice guns Bill. I've been shooting the original larger frame fixed sight Vaqueros for years. Bought my first one about 95' then a couple more a year or two later later. I bought them thinking I would like to do some Cowboy Action stuff but changed my mind after going to a couple shoots. Shooting is always a good time where ever it's done and I liked the concept with the shooting stages and all, but the fashion show part ( guy dressed up like the Lone Ranger complete with grey tights) and the anemic loadings and then calling it "real", well, it just wasn't my cup of tea. In the last couple years I've picked up a couple adjustable sight revolvers, a Bisley Blackhawk and a Ruger RH and I gotta tell ya, I can just plain shoot them better. Has nothing to do with my eyesight either, they're just easier to hit with. I like the adjustable sights so much better I'm thinking about sending my Bisley Vaquero to someone like Bowen or Stroh and have them install a set on it as well. I think the 4 5/8" Bisley, high polish stainless with blued adjustable sights would not only look great but be a great packin gun. By the way these are all 45 colt.  The only 44mag I had was a 3 screw SBH 7 1/2incher that I had for decades but couldn't hit the state of Washington with. Gave it to my son. The conclusion for me is, if it's a "workin" gun, it really needs adjustable sights.

2 cents worth - 357 mags hurt ears plain and simple . Something to think about for a working/hunting gun. With aging/diebetic eyes I have found 4 5/8 inch bbls easier to aim . I admit the 5 1/2 are really nice looking and still favorite . I like adj sights also. A 44 mag may be more weight . I like the Blackhawk grips because I have not shot the Bisley frame. AND IF GB KEEPS POSTING PICTURES OF HIS WITH THE PRETTY STOCKS I might have to break down and try them. I have read on Bowen's site or one of the other custon smiths sites where the shorter bbl is suggested for hunting I will try mine with 4 5/8" bbl this fall. If I reloaded I would go 45 Colt or 44 Spl. if not 44 mag. Why ? loaded ammo aval. If it were a range gun the 357 and good hearing protection . Then there is the 327 Federal Mag. with 8 shots  :D
If ya can see it ya can hit it !
