How do you Take a Sharps 1874 Apart?
« on: December 29, 2003, 06:53:49 PM »
:?   Shot a few rounds  loaded with BP out of my 45-90 Sharps and I was wondering how to take the breach block out. I cleaned the barrel and wiped everytrhing down but, I know the breach block should be taken out and cleaned also and I didn't want to risk breaking something or losing a small part ect...   Thanks in advance   Kevin

I have a Shiloh Sharps, I remove the lever pin by rotating it from the up position to the down position and pull pin out. The breach block and extractor will come out of the bottom of the rifle. Very simple, and easily reinstalled after cleaning, reverse to reassemble. Only 3 parts in you hand.
