Happy Birthday to the US Army

Happy 236th Birthday to the U.S. Army (founded June 14, 1775). 
Let me take this opportunity to thank all the selfless Americans that served in all branches of our military for their service.

In a related announcement; effective yesterday, the US Army has decided to go back to the old brimmed patrol cap (baseball cap) for everyday duties, getting rid of the black berets, except for specialized units (Airborne, Rangers, Special Forces). 
I have mixed feelings about this since Rangers originally wore the black berets.  When the black berets were "hijacked" and issued to the entire army by General Shinseki, our complaint that our berets were "earned, not issued" fell on deaf ears,
The current generation of US Army Rangers that I've spoken to are comfortable with the tan beret currently worn, by the Rangers.  Guess I'll always be Old School.

I am old school also. If you haven't earned it don't wear it. Making an insignia or other piece wearable by those who have not earned it is a slap in the face to those who went the extra mile. There are thousands who have served and I appreciate them. I am grateful and thankful for each. Trying to make evryone feel good for things they have not earned is just pathetic.

Case in point, I don't know how many are claiming to be Navy SEALS right now. There are at best guess 1500 of these great men but I think I have met all 20000 of them.

To be a Ranger,Green Beret, Marine Recon, Air Force Para Jumper, Navy SEAL, EOD tech, Sniper etc, you have to go that extra step. These things aren't easy. There is nothing wrong with being a regular guy either. The regular guys actually do alot more than given credit for. I am not sure why people can't be happy just being themselves.
