At least in America and the west wife beating is illegal, and you can be prosecuted.   Also, we have shelters for battered women, etc.  Where are they in Islamic countries?  Why is it ok with them?  I for the life of me, can't understand some of you guys defending these barbaric middle age people.  Wrong is wrong.  This shows their religion is WRONG.  No love, women are like cattle, honor killings, rape victims executed, etc.  This is stupid.  FYI it isn't tolerated in Israel or the west.

Very hard to condemn the West within the context of this discussion.  My sister has worked in clubs and restaurants most of her life - not a dancer - and lately more and more managers are Mid Eastern men.  She has said many times that the attitude is just incredible.  If a woman does as she is told everything is fine, but if she assumes she has any rights, or even tries to function as an equal, the man becomes absolutely intimidating.
