I really worry about a government who has nothing to do but worry about someone elses Mr. Winky.
Think about it for a minute, would you ask in the lunch room at work for a showing of those circumcised or not. I would really rather to eat lunch have some jokes and converstation than worry about someone's Mr. Winky.
If in doubt about circumcision you should talk to a doctor, not a politician. Is that just common sense or have I lost my mind?
How do you feel about a religion that has nothing to do but worry about it?

That fold of skin harbors pathogens that cause AIDS, and other disease in certain countries and circumstances. There was apparently a study about it in Africa where HIV is rampid...............? I am having a girl so it is not an issue, but the word at the birthing class is that circumsistion is becoming more popular due to disease studies. Can't name who studied what, it was just part of the class. (I am sure you can Google it) For this topic, I am for parental rights regarding their child to benefit their well being and health. Every child deserves to grow up healthy, strong, confident, and safe. Any legislation against those basic needs is a bad thing. Just my two cents..........
If you are having a girl then the equivalent issue is the vaccine for HPV (genital warts). Number #1 cause of throat cancer IN GUYS!!!!!!!! Seriously.

Um, Ok..... Wreckhog. I am not a doctor and I was just stating what I was told. But, can you send a link associating throat cancer in males to the HPV virus in women? I would like to read that. Thanks.

Less commonly practiced, and more controversial, is metzitzah b'peh, (alt. mezizah), or oral suction, where the mohel sucks blood from the circumcision wound. The traditional reason for this procedure is to minimize the potential for postoperative complications, although the practice has been implicated in the spreading of herpes to the infant.

I just about puked !!! :o

Scatter, go back and read that portion of the bible with a attitude of health and hi gene and I think you will get a better picture of things. ;)

Considering for thousands of years men managed to keep their unit clean and from falling off I'm not impressed that it was done for health or hygiene.

It was done in some cultures as a Rite of Passage for young men which is another reason altogether.

Additionally there are medical reasons that have nothing to do with the above performed as a surgery complete with anesthetics. The jewish ritual is done without that and please don't tell me the infant doesn't feel or react to that pain. >:(

Don't know about the pain... It was so long ago I don't remember. :D Apparently it had no adverse affects on my mental state. I am a functioning, tax paying member of society. Some times I get pissed at our government but I don't think the 2 are related. P.S. I am not Jewish

I am just against government having this much control in a private life. You pick you religion and thats fine. If you want circumcision that is your buisness, if you don't that is your buisness also. I really don't want to see a raise of hands about who is or isn't circumcised.

Fair enough except when you are a infant less then two weeks old you don't have any choice in that matter.

My children were not given any choice about anything at 2 weeks old. I gave them some choices and decision making chances as they got older. I hopefully gave them enough training and insight to do the right things over the course of their lives.
Parents do what they can to protect their children. If getting a little snip at less than 2 weeks saves them from infections later on was it worth it?
Did you give your kids a choice about vaccinations? I didn't give them a choice and certainly wouldn't allow them to make a medical decision at that age either.
I don't look at circumcision as a religious thing, and there is no reason for any Christian to.
If you choose to look at it as religious issue then convert to Judaism.
If you look at it as a health issue then consult your doctor.
Would you consult a politician on any medical issue?
The more power you give to a government the less freedom you have.

Of all the things the idiots want to regulate in Komifornia, this is one of the most reasonable.  Ritual mutilation of an infant is disgusting.  The health "gains" are nominal at best and simply teaching your child good personal hygiene and how to be responsible sexually would offer a lot more benefit.  I guess it's easier to cut off the tip of their (censored word) though.   ::)  If a young man chooses to this for heath, religious, or cosmetic reasons...more power to him.

I also don't think that parents should be able to pierce their kids ears or get them tattoos or boob implants until the child is old enough to understand and request it.
This that I do, I do by my own free will.

As a parent, I would be upset that the local government was so bold as to decide whether or not my child gets circumcisied or not. It's not up to any political dictator to make that decision. I find it hard to believe that people surrender their rights so easily.

Isn't it all about
Parental rights
Religous freedom
and govermnet interest.
Clearly where the state (government in general be it federal, State, county, or city) has an interest, it has to be compelling to over ride your personal freedom.
On the same note if you are not allowed for religous reasons to get circumsized then maybe they city can limit or ban tatoos, piercings, and body modifications.  That whole slippery slope.

Sounds like the turtle neck is coming back into fashion in the gay bay.

Its a dirty decision- my story of my unsnipped son
« Reply #47 on: June 28, 2011, 08:15:10 AM »
As a parent you useally dont want to hurt your newborn kid.
Our little hospital had a nurse working there that was a strong proponent of saving them, I was not so shure, My wife definately wanted it cut off, the nurse convenced us not to just after delivery... becuse it hurts the baby :'(.....Who wants to hurt ther newborn??
Imagine cleaning it every time you change a diaper in back your mind you wonder if this aint just a bit wierd washing anothers privates? every time he #2's you can bet that stuff will be in the forskin-every damn time 24/7-365, then  progress to toddler stage and still cleaning it wondering when the child molester police were comming??, every time your son took a bath you'd ask Did you wash behind your ears? did you wash the crack your butt? Did You Clean your Piss flap?....given a choice the kid will not clean his forskin, just like all the other places a kid wont scrubb for dirt and filth, now our son was a 8 yro boy and he stank like hell, had with a smelly cottage cheese like accumilation on the tip and he wasnt cleaning it and as a 30 somthing male it just seemd so damn wrong touching your son's dick to wash it because he wasnt gonna!! I broke down and told the missus mebe she should go as I has having a hard time dealing with the rammifications, she had a go and was immediately against any more this foolishness, she was all set to have it done yesterday, had to schedule a flight to Anchorage(430 miles away) to the hospital to have it done (local hospital only does newborns), multiply that by all the boys and there families that floated through that hospital the time that nurse was there, musta been 20-30 boys wandering round with unclean weasles, My son askd to have his removed when he was 8yro (mothers ire at his unclean ways), just do the right thing and get the damn thing snipped off when ther young, one less thing a parent has to worry about.
Imagine at school when they are telling kids about Good Touch Bad touch and they come home with all the pamphlets, imagine him sitting in a circle with all the little boys and your kid telling school officals his parents both touch his Johnnie when he takes a bath!
Son #2 had it done at delivery, never a issue.

If kids could make a informed decision at that age they'd have it snipped, as they cant vote, drive, have sex, or buy a gun, get married you can bet there gonna make bad decisions thats what parents are for, having to remind them of stuff like playing in the street, where to bike ride, dont touch its hot, dont play with cleaners under the sink, Dont stick that butter knife in the wall socket, hey quit dropping pocket change in the Television cooling slots, No the Dryer is not a amusement ride.....Kids will useally make allot more bad decisions than a parent.

:o If he can't wash himself properly in ALL places at 8 years of age you got a problem and it isn't his foreskin.

If he would have been mine we'd have a "Short Arm" inpection 'til he remembers to wash that part.!
