I heard today that even if the Governor signs the bill immediately that it won't be implemented until October or November. Guess we waited this long, what's a coupla more months. Gives me time to save for a new carry gun....... ???

Does anyone know if "open carry" disappeared in the legislative process?

No, open carry may of actually got better. Some side issues I like are the possibility of taking home a handgun from the dealer right away. Why 'cool off' anyway when I already have plenty of handguns at home?

I have the FL non-res but will be in line early for the WI permit. The main reason for me is my U.P. woods travel, easier with a CCW permit. Yes, I know MI does not recognize a FL non-res permit.

Here is a good summary of the bill and the attached ammendments.  It's great that it's finally passed, but I have a couple problems with it.  One it seems that you cannot have any alcohol in your system when you carry. I would be fine with having it similar to drunk driving, or even lower levels.  But it states that essentially if you take your wife out for dinner and have a beer or a glass of wine you can't defend yourself.

Also, they removed the restriction of needing your pistol cased and unloaded in a vehicle, but you still have to have your rifle/shotgun cased.  I would like them to remove that restriction as well.

Apparently after skimming they will honor all out of state liscenses as long as there has been a backgrround check. That's good news, not as good as unrestricted carry but better than we have here in Illinois.

It looks to me that they won't honor an out of state permit if you are a Wisconsin resident.

no alcohol while carrying is pretty much universal no matter which state you are in.   i have no problem with that bit at all.   i have seen too many people act stupidly after drinking.  drinking and guns definately do not mix.

No. He wanted to get the budget out of the way first.  My guess is that he will sign it on Independence Day! ;D

Did it turn into a felony to carry concealed without a permit?
