Eureka! Tetragon 9
« on: March 29, 2011, 04:15:19 AM »
My arthritic knees decided they didn't want me crawling in and out of my Eureka! Timberline 4, so I just ordered a Tetragon 9.  From the online pictures it looks like I'll have room inside it for a cot and a small table on which to use my computer.  My main concern is rain as here in Louisiana it rains a lot (except lately).  I wonder how waterproof this tent is?  What say ye?

I've had a Tetragon 7 for many years and been through many rains w/ no problem. I'd say as long as the 9 has a full fly you're good to go.
May want to think about putting something under the table and cot legs so you don't puncture the floor.

I'm still a "crawler" so I have no experience with tent furniture but maybe some rubber backed carpet pieces would work.

I have a similar model, the Eureka! Sunrise 9.  You'll love being able to stand erect while getting dressed.  My Sunrise has a somewhat larger rain fly than your Tetragon so I hesitate to guess about yours and rain.  Mine does great though!  I've been in cold rain in Colorado and warm rain in Florida.  It was bone dry inside using a plastic tarp ground cloth slightly smaller than the tent floor.  In this picture the wind was stout enough to flatten one side of the normally symmetrical tent and the inside stayed dry through an all day series of squalls.

I on the other hand was soaked since I spent the day sight-seeing on my motorcycle.  ;D

Depends on what kind of camping.
But drive up I have added a Carpet to the base of the tent.
One of the cheap ones at Home depot or lowes that was about the size of the tent.
My tent mate on that trip gave me crap about it, but it was nice in the frozen morning not to be standing on the frozen tent floor.  I think it too kept the tent warmer at night.

Looks like folded magazines under the two center cot legs will work fine.

Maybe if you still have one of those old solid foam sleeping pads laying around you could cut peices from that.
Hi NSA! Can you see how many fingers I am holding up?
