Kids graduate from high school not knowing how a business operates, or anything about capitalism. They are taught socialism, evolution, and nothing about the unique nature of America, its founding principles and why they work if the constitution is respected.
I think they should know:
1) A good grasp of American history, and the constitution, and that we have a republican form of government (not the republican party).
2) Citizenship principles, voting, our capitalist principles, how businesses are ran, like sole propriertorships, corporations. How to save for retirement, a house, a car, etc.
3) How to save money, budgeting, and balancing a checkbook.
4) Good reading skills, at least how to read a newspaper, a short novel, and comprehension of what they read.
5) Good enough math skills to understand weights, measures, so they can budget buy their products. Be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Like which is larger a gallon or two liters. Or a 5th of liquor or a quart. That would get some of their attention.
