Model 60 162430 vs 162434 What's the difference?

Other than the price and possibly the front sight, I can get a 152434 for $625 or a 162430 for $729. Why the difference, and what is the difference?

I called S&W today and they said the only diference was the sight, the hi viz being more expensive (162434). I told them the 162434 was much cheaper and they said it had been out of production for about a year. One gun wholesaler had the old one in stock, but not the new 162430. The grips did look slightly different on the two models when I zoomed in. I will find out when I order one and receive it.

I am looking for the small frame stainless 3 inch barrel 357 mag, I held a model 60 162430 at a dealer and liked it. The model 60 162434 is much cheaper in price and has a high viz front sight. so I ordered one assuming everything else is the same. I will pick it up in a couple days.

Picked up the gun today.  Only difference appears to be the front sight. FYI.  I am very happy with it so far.

any reason you chose the 3 inch??


mine  is the  2 inch  [2.125 inch]   centiniel
i  get  1250  fps  out of mine with remington  125 grain hp


i really like the J frame
i keep getting the urge to get  that  5 inch  version
