« on: November 05, 2011, 09:51:30 PM »
i just put a deposit on one of these little beauties . i have plans for this little rifle being my go to gun for most of my shooting . so spending & bit of time & money on her is something i intend on doing . this is my first lever action rifle & it's role is to replace my old 10 shot smle 303 british .
now what do i do to the the rossi m92 action to ' SLICK HER UP ' ? & set er up as a great hunting rifle . trigger job ,
peep sights , bedding of stocks , scopes , better recoil pad ect ect . any thoughts or idears please add .

Unless your comfortable with taking it apart you might want to get a smith to do it, on mine I thought I would like to try a peep sight I know there is one that replaces the safty just dont know who has them. The recoil pad on mine is alright for me, being that the gun is so light it has some "thump" to it.As far as a scope I never did like the side mount.Good luck with it and let us know how it shoots.

There is a m92 scout model if you don't mind the using a long eye rel. Scope.they are drilled and tapped for a scout scope mount under the rear sight. If you have a model not drilled a gunsmith can do this with no problem

Look up Stevez Guns, and check out his DVD on tuning up a 92. I did for 2 and it's not hard at all. Gunslick spring kit, stainless mag follower, peep sight, and polishing the innards.

yes i seen that steves gunz last night . i'll buy one of those dvd & spring & follower kits .
i want one of those peeps instead of the safety .
as for scopes i found a 2-7x33 scout scope i think it was linefield or something like that around $300us . i really think the 454 in a short rifle totally deserves a scope . using pistol bullets flying out at 2x normal impact velocity will be spectacular on small - medium game . a scope with 33mm objective would still allow some night shooting while using a spotlight . & better shot placement will mean more one shot kills . i am getting real excited about this little thumpa , & am sure it'll reignite my bullet casting hoby .

Were it me, I'd hold off on the scope for a bit until you've given the peep a fair chance. The right rear aperture and front post combination is handier to me than a scope inside 200yds, but that's me.
