.45 Colt SB2 or not

I'm half considering getting that .45 Colt buffalo carbine, keeping the barrel and parting out the rest.  However I'm not positive the frame is a SB2 and the info on identifying the frames left me scratching my head.  If it says SB2 on the barrel, does that always mean the frame it came attached to is also SB2? 

My .44 mag also says SB2 on the barrel but I've heard that doesn't always mean the frame is SB2...

It's all right there in the FAQ's at the top of the page.
 
You hold down on the ctrl key and hit "f" and the little box appears and then you type in SB2 frame and viola.

My culled down Handi's are the 45-70, and then I have a few others to keep it company...357 Mag/Max. .45 LC/.454 Casull Carbine, .243 Ultra, and 20 gauge Tracker II.

The BC Carbine comes on an SB2 frame, same frame as the 45-70 BC.  ;)

The 44mag has come both ways from the factory, 1987-2007 were SB2, in 2008 they switched to SB1 for both the 357 and 44 mags and started fitting acc barrels to SB1 frames, they also dumped the sights in 2008 that were standard on the earlier barrels and made them slick barrels with scope bases only with the exception of the Talo Trapper later.

Why they're still marking SB2(which causes confusion! ::)) on barrels that come on factory SB1 framed rifles is a big question and one that's been discussed many, many times, best reason I can figure is the barrels are made long before they're fitted to a frame and they just haven't changed the marking procedure.

I decided I had to know for sure so I took my .44 mag down to the bare frame.  It's  skeletonized where the stock bolts on.  The Serial number is NP200xxx so it looks it's looking like a SB2 made in 2000.   

I'm still undecided about the .45 Colt BC.  My truck is in the shop getting the tranny rebuild.  If this doesn't hurt me too much, the BC will be back on the table...
