Relocation from the SASS Wire.....
« on: August 10, 2003, 03:54:31 PM »
Howdy Pards,

Have relocated from the "other Wire" due to all of the non-politeness.  Will be making this my new site of choice.

Hope to have a good time here and learn alot......

Welcome pard,

You'll find this a much less quarrelsome place than the Wire. And the moderator is a regular poster so that things get attention paid to them, 'stead of becoming really wierd periodically! I love that aspect of the place!

Wal Pard, yer ain't gonna find that non-politeness round heah cuz the Marshall don't allow it. This is a friendly site on all forums. My rules require it and I strictly enforce them. We don't make personal attacks, call names or do those things so many other sites do that tends to run off the good folks.

This too makes a few folks unhappy and they leave but I've found that generally the ones that don't like the rules here aren't the kind we want anyway. Trouble makers generally gravitate to where they are tolerated which ain't here.

This is the BEST place for CAS related information. We talk loads and guns and carts and such. May not get as many posts, but what is here is straight forward. And we can talk about how good Big Ed is and Graybeard won't mind.

I think that we'll be seeing more and more cowboys relocating from the wire as the situation over there continues to escalate with the heavy handed and one sided moderation. In the past eight months I've only seen one out of the many who were banned whose actions warrented banning. The rest were all the result of petty personal differences and abuse of the moderaters power.

Ya gotta try hard to get banned here. Can be done but you do have to work at it.

Best ways to accomplish it is to use lots of foul language, post porn, make personal attacks or call folks some unkind names. Those things can and will get ya canned but most agree they have no place in a friendly family oriented site like this anyway so the folks who get canned usually didn't belong here to start with.

You'll definitelly find this a friendlier and easier place to hang out I think.

I moderate several boards myself and they are family oriented. I do like what I've seen on this board since I've been here. and I've run into a couple of my Non CAS Pards over here as well as many of my CAS amigo's here so I'll stick around.

Well, after the AWA fiasco and the banned brothers and all, I came to this site and post now and then. I felt at home right from the git go. I like jawwin about firearms and such and see no need for all the hostilities that goes on on TOB. Welcome pard.

Big Hext, Nope ya way too late to be first. I think that was back about '98 or so. Heck I've even had a couple of groups to get all whizzed off and have to be shipped out over the way they carried on. Most of the first group are all back now tho and behaving quite well.

1860, "Smokless is for sissys!!! " Boo!!! Hiss!!!  :)

"So are .38s and especially .32s... " Yup I'll buy into that. I shoot dem .45s and wish I could rev them up a bit.

RB,

ain't nothing wrong with you.  I am just getting into it and finding good stuff.  I will be keeping an eye down here since I run one match and help with another.

Haven't really spent much time on the other site in several years, but make my daily rounds with a couple of the others.

As for shooting 38's........  I love my 38 WCF, but have gone to 38 S&W Spl. for medical and financial reasons.  The medical is for damaged hands and the financial is that with 3 of us shooting, I can stretch the dollar with the smaller boolit.  Rifle is still loaded up a bit (1250+) but that is what is working the best there.  If you get a chance to get to Northern CA, look us up and we shall ring a few (steel).

Thanks Modoc for the invite!!  Have 13 years of cowboy action under my belt and have pretty much got the hang of it now!?

Shoot almost exclusively in Oklahoma and recently attended the "All Shotgun Match for Cowboys" in Grandfield, OK for the 2nd year in a row.  It is absolutely amazing what you can do with a 20" Coachgun....!!

I really learned to shoot by getting involved in CAS and actually attained my Texas CHL with single-action pistols (the Instructor, a cop.....could not believe it!!) - qualified in the upper 10% of 50 plus shooters.  I had shot alot before CAS, but REALLY learned to shoot a pistol, rifle and shotgun from this experience.

I have been coming here for a while.  That other board has had it's ups and downs.  Been at that board since '99 and this one almost as long.  this is the nicer place to be.  Been bushwhacked at TOB and didn't like it.  It was very clicky and if you were not one of the boys, you had a problem.  I do a lot of visiting here on all the different groups here and love the place.  welcome pard.

Here it is May/June of 2011 and I am off for the Summer (don't like to shoot when it is 90-degrees or more....sweat gets in me shooting glasses!) and will return the 3rd weekend in September to Grandfield OK (very good club up thar').

Rarely visit the other wire anymore....too many quarrels!!  Am in the retirement mode now and finally have time to shoot as much as I want.....!!

Here in Virginia it is the same high heat.  Been shooting this game since '98 and still love it.  Well mostly the folks that I shoot with i guess.  Don't shoot as much as I once did, but still keep my hand in.  Got a lot on my plate even though I am retired now.  Biggest pain lately is loading all them bullets.  Wish I had someone to do it for me.  Oh well too much to wish for.

Ride easy pard.

My range is in my back yard and I also have been there to shoot in more than nine months. I think the only thing I've shot this year is one round of skeet.

Well the time is here!  This Sunday, the 18th of September, I return to cowboy shooting.  Only shoot from September through May each year now as the Summer months are just too grueling (yah, tell me about it this year!) in 2011, we have had a record heat of 70+ days of 100 degrees!  Do you realize that is 1/5th of the year over 100F??

Lawful Larry, when did you start in 1998?  I came along in April, 1998 and now compete about 24 matches per year (twice a month - weather permitting).  Too much invested in this sport, plus it taught me how to shoot.....I mean really shoot.  Not just pull a trigger and watch it go "bang", but shoot and hit stuff at speed for accuracy.

I qualified for my CHL in Texas using my single-action guns and the cop/instructor could not believe it.  "He warned me that I might not be able to keep us with the other shooters!"  Changed his tune afterwards.....

I started in the fall of '98.  I didn't shoot my first match until Feb. '99.  My SASS # is 26392 and I join in Jan. I think.  I noticed your number of 16xxx.  So we had roughly a 1000 new SASS members from April to Jan.

I don't shoot as much as I would like.  But I get to see my buddies once in a while, which is great.  I love the people in the game.  They are the best folks in any game.
