Going for a knee replacement
« on: March 29, 2011, 04:53:35 PM »
I won't be here a few days, getting a knee replacement. Will get back on with the gang when I am back home.

Had both of mine done about two months apart about ten years ago.  Wish I had done it sooner.
Do all of the therapy and more.
One of the best things someone told me was to sit in a rocking chair a lot and rock.  At first your leg has to be WAY out there and bend just a little.  As you go along, pull your heel closer.  VERY good way to get extra  therapy.
Good luck.

It has been a rough week after the surgery.  Lots of time in pain and in PT. Things seem to be going well but slow. Can wait to be back to just getting around without the pain.

Keep doing that therapy!!!
After a few weeks of being an invalid, I finally one day decided to drive my Mule up to the mail box.  We have a little Rat Terrier who loved to ride on the seat with me.  I got it started, put it in reverse, got my foot on the accelerator, and couldn't bend my knee enough to get it off.  It goes backwards about as fast as it goes forward!  When I finally got it stopped just before hitting a tree, the little dog jumped off, and won't get back on with me to this day.

Do all your PT and then some , It'll hurt like H E double L but it will be worth it in the long run. I had both of mine done six years ago and did more than what was required (couldn't do anything else , so I exersized  ;D) I love to hike and now go for as long as I want, recently did a bicycle ride of 22 miles with no problem. It was very painful at the beginning but when I am asked if I would do it again I always say " In a heartbeat" it was worth it . good luck in your recovery....... :)

Truck drivers suffer from bad left knees. Especially construction and town delivery truck drivers since they shift many more times a day than an over the road driver.
