270 WSM

I picked up a new Browning A Bolt Medallion in 270 WSM.  I have read a bunch about the WSM's and decided that I didn't need the horse power of the 300 and went with the 270 WSM.
I would love to hear about your experience with the cartridge, likes / dislikes etc., and general thoughts about it.

I went with the WSM in general for the shorter action, bolt throw, burn efficiency and the cool factor.  8)

 One of my hunting buddies has the same rifle in the 270 WSM also, and he has been using it as his go-to gun for hunting season. I use a T3 in 300 WSM, and he also has a 300 WSM. We will shoot at hogs at longer distances, but not game animals. He took an antelope at 286 yds with the 270 as he couldn't get any closer, but that is the longest shot at game animals.

 We both reload, and, besides bullet diameter, there isn't any difference in reloading either one. I'm a fan of the WSMs.

The 270WSM has been my go to rifle for the last 7 years, I actually bought it for my wife but I've taken over on it. I have come to really like the WSM's and picked up a 325WSM.  I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.

My dad has one. This is just my 2 cents but I don't like it. His kicks some kind of hard and is ungodly loud. Again just my 2 cents worth. But he has a 325 WSM that he likes a lot????? Don't ask me why. Good luck with it.

The WSM's need a Limbsaver pad installed to reduce felt recoil, well, that is unless you like getting beat up.  They are great cartridges that really get the job done and will do the long range shots in the right hands.  A 400+ yd shot is a slam dunk with my 300WSM.

I have had a 270 WSM for many years and have used it on everything from deer to moose with great results. It seem to be on par with my 7mag with less recoil. I put a limbsaver recoil pad on it and this even made it better. The rifle is in a Savage 110 and is super accurate. The last moose I took with it was a 51 inch at 378 yards and a hornady 140 boat tail. Used RL 22 and Fed 215 primers. This bullet broke both shoulders and exited. The other moose was a 48 inch at 510 yards and taken with a 130 partition using Rl 19 in the same place and did the same thing. Over all I like it better than my 7mags because of weight and recoil.
