I had a case split on my 96 Mauser yestarday. This is sporterzed with a Shilen barrel on it and it was shooting real sweet. The load was 44.7 of 4831SC for a velocity of 2557fps. and the other at 45.7 grains, Hodgdon shows 47 as max. I beleive this was only the second maybe third firing at most, I lost track. I was just getting ready to reload for it and took some measurements. When the initial sizing is done it is sizing it down .011 which sounds excessive to me, or is it? Once sized down then the bullet seated I am coming up with .002 neck tension which sounds good to me. So is the .011 oversized normal for the fired brass, it just sounds excessive to me?
Thanks PD
