NEW TO ENCORE
« on: October 08, 2011, 04:53:57 AM »
New to Encore here, just bought  one with 25 06 and 22-250 26'' heavy barrels. The 25 06 has a Nikon Monarch 4x-12x ucc scope and the 22-250 is sportin a Nikon Buckmaster 4x-12x 50 mm. I picked them up used at a pawn shop with scopes already mounted. The gun looks brand new, you cant even tell if the 22-250 barrel has been fired. I'm going to shoot them tommorow morning. I have been lurkin on this site for a couple weeks before I made the purchase and have learned alot about this paticular system. Thanks                            ps will give range report tommorow afternoon.

Welcome.  I love my encores.  Nice glass and very appropriate for the calibers you have.

Range report : shot both the 25 06 and the 22-250 at 100 yds.  I used Remington core lokt 100 grn. for the 25 06 and Winchester 45 grn jhp white box for the 22-250. I used this ammo because it was all that was available to me without a considerable drive. The 25 06  shot rather inconsistant but I believe it had more to do with shooting an unfamiliar trigger and poor ammo. About the best I got out of it was 1 3/4 groups. But I want to stress the fact that it was probably the shooter and the ammo.  I have to say I really love the fit and quality of this rifle. The 22-250 shot rather well printing a couple groups of around an inch in the rain and wind. But in all fairness to the 25 06 I was getting used to the trigger by then. This week I'm going to float the forearm and work on the trigger and  make a trip to obtain quality factory ammo for both chambers. I have to build up a stockpile of  brass in both chamberings. If I'm a good boy maybe my old lady will buy me a set of redding dies for both for Christmas, I will have to post the part numbers for her though. All in all I would have to say the encore is a real winner in my book and found a permanent home in my arsenal.

I hope you can get both of them "settled in" and shooting where you want them to.  I have been nothing but satisfied with my four Encore barrels.  Encores are unique and not for everyone.  Hopefully you will continue to take enjoyment in owning an Encore.

do a good safe trigger job plenty of info on the web just search, and you will fall in love with this gun, be sure to do drop and jounce tests after trigger job to be sure it is safe. pull on my encore is 1.75 lbs, had to recut sear angle to be sure it was safe, before recutting sear angle you could push hammer off.

I  was reading where you have to sharpen the angle on the sear by about 10 degrees when going to that light of a pull. Is yours in that range of modification?
