Yep! It's hard to believe that you could make a "worse version" than the first one, but they did. This version sucked even more than the first.

I watched the new and the old back to back. The script was very close but really who could ever replace John Wayne. Those are just too big of shoes to fill.

I always wondered what set John Wayne apart from the rest. Now all these years later I learn it was shoe size.

It was alright, True Grit. Not as good as the previews, as is often the case.

For a truly great western... Deadwood.

Or Open Range. Or Lonesome Dove. Or Unforgiven.
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

I have heard from a few people that usually don't even mention movies that it's an excellent movie. I haven't confirmed that, but I figured it must be really good if they just bring it up in a conversation.

I saw the John Wayne and Kim Darby version when it was in the theaters. It was a very good movie. One of the best at the time, I recall.

If you haven't seen it and like cowboy movies, it's definitely worth considering.

This thread just goes to show that the old saying about opinions is true.

Personally I really like the John Wayne version and the new one isn't half bad either.
