Working in Military Base Housing for over 30 years, I met all kinds. Made lots of friends, and still see some of them regularly. Learned early on race, color of their skin, or location where they were raised had nothing to do with it. Some were great folks, some were so so, and others were trash. The great folks were a lot like me, clean house, polite kids, polite themselves, and made you feel comfortable to be around. Wealth had nothing to do with it.
Today, here in Alaska, all my close friends are white, with a few Black, or Asian, friends that are not that close. I have no Eskimo or Indian friends, yet I live in an area where they are high in numbers. Why, well we just don't have much in common. I shoot and hunt almost all the time, they have other priorities. The Eskimos and Indians are pretty racist themselves as a whole, and don't have much to do with other races if they can help it.
While in Florida, hay, whole different world. My biddies wife is Asian. She and her Sister's friends are mostly Asian as well. Living in Florida for over 40 years they have met a hugh assoriment of people and made friends with many. Every weekend the house is full of friends, all playing poker, or watching races. Asians, Whites, Cubans, Haitians, all intermingling and having fun. Racist jokes and names are used all the time in fun with laughter. This is a sign everyone is comfortable with their position and standing within the group, and they know the people around them in this group, really do like them. These people don't give a hoot where you or your parents came from. All that is important is that you are who you are, and a likable person. And you don't cheat at poker.
