weather the 2nd week of Elk
« on: February 14, 2011, 01:58:12 AM »
Anyone live near Steam Boat Springs?  could you tell me what kind of weather I could expect for the 2nd week of Elk season?  It's the last week of October.

Thanks

cold and most likely snow.

Used to live there many years ago.  Its a dry cold but make sure you bring plenty of warm clothes and dress in layers.

It's unpredictable at best.  Bring clothes for warm and for snow, you never know.

Its Colorado wait five minutes and the weather can change. Bring warm cloths dress in layers could be below freezing in the morning and 70 by noon.

It depends on your altitude not just the date.  I hunt first rifle season in SW Colorado near Durango at 11500' elevation.  It gets down to 15 degrees above zero at night and up to about 55 degrees during the day time when the weather is good.  If the weather is bad, it may get colder than that.
