BH209 starting load
« on: August 05, 2011, 10:30:16 AM »
Where is a good starting point for a 45cal.300gr bullet with harvester sabots and BH209,traditions pursuit LT  I'm thinking around 90 gr.(volume) but would like input. I looked for data at bh209 web site but it wouldn't let me on.Thanks

I would start in the 80 to 90 grain range.  You will not need anymore than that

just make sure you de-carbon the breech plugs flash channel with the 3mm or #32 drill bit after 6 shots or so.

in my H&R sideick, I use 777 primers with awesome ingition and no build up.  best o fboth worlds. I just ordered a bergara barrel for the encore with the original and new midofied nreexh plug.  It will be here by Thursday I hope so I can get it on and give it a try.  My plan is to use a muzzleloader all season.

I just got a bergara barrel for my encore.  I am shooting 100 grains of bh209 cci regular primers and 240 grain xtp in a harvestor crush rib sabot.  deadly accurate at 100 yards.  50 yard target you could cover three shots with a penny.
